Subject: GUS Patchmaking Reference--New version

I just uploaded the latest revision (2.3) of the GUS Patchmaking
Reference. It is on archive.epas.utoronto.ca in
pub/pc/ultrasound/submit. The filename is patref23.zip.
This Windows Hypertext reference contains information for both
beginning and experienced "patchmakers."
Here's the table of contents:
        1. THE BASICS--Sampling Terms Defined, Uses of Samples and Patches.
        2. FINDING SOME SAMPLES--the Kurzweil K2000 Archive and
converting sounds with GoldWave 2.0(tm).
        3. PATCHMAKING TIPS--Things that aren't in "the Manual"
        4. MINIMIZING THE SIZE OF YOUR SAMPLES--Self-explanatory
        5. BANK SWITCHING--Well, er, not yet, but click here anyway
for a taste.
        6. CSOUND PATCHES--Using Csound to generate GUS patches.
        7. MASTER INDEX OF SAMPLES--Where to get them, how to convert them.
        8. YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS--Put your ideas here!

Since the last revision, there have been many additions, including more
graphics, a complete index of the TX16W samples, and the sections on
Basics and Csound.
I would appreciate any feedback on this reference, both positive
and (constructively) negative. Also, if you find the information useful,
please drop me a line and say so!

John
