Subject: dropped prg changes

It seems I at least stirred things up a little and got plenty of
discussions going about how the Gus drivers work versus how they
should work. I especially like the note about how the yamaha and
roland handle the example of simultaneous program changes and notes.

Mainly however, I just wanted to point out that although in general
the new drivers work better, it seems that the old drivers did not
have this problem of dropping program changes, and I just wanted to
see how everyone felt about this. If the discussion centered around
improper midi file sequences, than I would write a program to scan
midi files for these sequences and patch them so the program change
allways occurs a split second before. I manually tried this and it
worked for the midi file I was trying to compare with the old drivers.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, and I think I'll hold off a little
longer on patching my midi files, in case new drivers are released.

Subject: SB & GUS

I'm working with Wincake. I'd like to continue using my GUS as a MIDI synth
but using an SB16ASP besides it to play WAVs.
Is that desirable/possible?

The Space Debris MOD on the GUS disks is corrupt, and will not play
correctly on any player with any soundcard.

sung to the tune of 'hey diddle diddle'...

or otherwise, does anyone know what has happened to the Cakewalk group?
Since Wednesday/Thursday last week I have heard nothing...is it still around?
have I inadvertantly dropped off?

Help appreciated!

Thanks - Richard
